In a troubling incident at a school in Badlapur, Thane district, the management has suspended the principal along with two staff members following allegations of sexual abuse involving two female students.
The situation at the Badlapur school:
At about 8am on Tuesday, hundreds of angry parents and local residents gathered on the railway tracks at Badlapur station. They stopped the trains in response to the alleged sexual assault of two four-year-old girls at a school in Thane district, Maharashtra.
Since Tuesday morning, furious parents of students have been protesting at the local train station, demanding tough measures against those responsible. In response to the alleged sexual abuse of two girls, the school management in Badlapur, Thane district, has suspended the principal and two staff members.
The protest has disrupted train services on both the Up and Down routes since about 8 a.m. On August 17, Thane Police took a school attendant into custody for reportedly mistreating two kindergarten girls, aged three and four, according to news agency PTI. Uddhav Thackeray, the leader of Shiv Sena (UBT), called for a quick trial and prompt justice for the victims of this sexual abuse case. He pointed out to reporters that while the Mahayuti government promotes the Mukhyamantri Ladki Bahin scheme for women’s safety, the daughters of families are still at risk. Referring to the recent rape and murder of a doctor in Kolkata, Thackeray criticized the Mamata Banerjee government, suggesting that political agendas are overshadowing the serious issue of crimes against women, especially in certain states. He also mentioned that the school involved in the abuse case has connections to BJP leaders. “The case needs to be expedited, and the victims deserve swift justice,” he emphasized.
