JAY SHAH ELEVATES HIS POSITION WITHIN THE ADMINISTRATIVE STRUCTURE:
Jay Shah has experienced a rapid ascent in cricket administration, starting with his early involvement in the Gujarat Cricket Association (GCA). His path began in 2009 when he was appointed as an executive board member of the Central Board of Cricket in Ahmedabad. In September 2013, he became the joint secretary of the GCA, where he played a vital role in the construction of the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad, which is now the largest cricket stadium in the world.
Shah’s notable success at the GCA was pivotal in propelling him through the administrative levels of Indian cricket. In 2015, he became a member of the BCCI, contributing to the finance and marketing committees. His influence expanded significantly, and by 2019, he had made history by being elected as the youngest secretary of the BCCI at the age of 31.
During his leadership as the secretary of the BCCI, Shah has marked several important milestones. One of his key achievements was securing the broadcasting rights for the 2022 Indian Premier League, which shattered previous records with a sale price of Rs 48,390 crore, making the IPL the second most profitable sporting event worldwide in terms of value per match.
